Mental & Emotional Health

East Asian Medicine is based on the principal of balance and flow. It is said that, “The root of all disease is impediment to flow.” What that means to us is that if our energy (qi, yang), and/or blood (yin) gets stuck this results in stagnation, and that stagnation can cause imbalance and disease. Think of it as a boulder obstructing a stream making the flow uneven and unpredictable. Sometimes we see the obstruction give rise to diseases of the physical body as in pain, digestive diseases, migraines, weakened immunity, asthma, skin issues and chronic, inflammatory or autoimmune diseases.

East Asian Medicine is a holistic system in which the mind, body, and spirit are all connected. Imbalance in the spirit, called Shen, may be reflected in the physical body and imbalance in the physical body may cause a disturbance of the Shen. Obstructed flow, or stagnation, may also result in mental or emotional diseases such as anxiety, depression, insomnia, or emotional instability. We use acupuncture, herbal medicine, nutrition, and supportive therapies including cupping and meditation to remove these obstructions. When we restore flow we can resolve a wide range of conditions and rebalance the mind, body, and spirit.
