Cofounder, Acupuncturist, Herbalist and Nutritionist

Erik Smith holds a masters degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) from Five Branches University and a masters degree in Clinical Nutrition from Bastyr University. He is licensed to practice acupuncture and herbal medicine by the California Acupuncture Board and the National Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM). Erik holds specialty certifications in Sports Medicine Acupuncture and Qi Gong Instruction, and completed an externship in Orthopedics with Zhejiang College of TCM in Hongzhou, China. Erik is Board Certified in Acupuncture Orthopedics, placing him among only 1% of acupuncturists holding this level of training in the diagnosis and treatment of musculoskeletal conditions. Erik is our pain specialist and is known for his quick results with acute injuries and chronic pain. He draws from multiple traditions and has the unique ability to melt tight muscles with acupuncture alone. Erik is also our nutrition specialist, holding a deep knowledge of the therapeutic nature of whole foods and dietary supplements. He enjoys spreading his nutritional knowledge and has taught health professionals on both coasts how to integrate therapeutic nutrition into their practices. Erik is an avid athlete and has competed locally and nationally in a variety of sports.
 

Stacy Smith, L.Ac, Dipl. OM

Cofounder, Acupuncture and Herbalist

Stacy Smith holds a masters degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) from Five Branches University. She is licensed to practice acupuncture and herbal medicine by the California Acupuncture Board and the National Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM). Stacy completed an externship in Gynecology at Zhejiang College of TCM in Hongzhou, China and holds a specialty certification in Chi Nei Tsang, a type of visceral massage used to support fertility. She is also well-versed in Children's Tuina Massage, a type of Chinese massage that is used to treat a multitude of childhood ailments. Stacy is our women's health specialist and is known for her exceptional listening skills, warm nature and painless needle technique. Stacy is also a Feng Shui Practitioner and enjoys helping people to improve their health and prosperity with this time honored technique.

Johanna Anderson, L.Ac

Acupuncturist and Herbalist

Johanna Anderson holds a masters degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine from the Santa Barbara College of Oriental Medicine and is licensed to practice acupuncture and herbal medicine by the California Acupuncture Board. Johanna specializes in the treatment of infertility. She supports women at all stages of the fertility process, whether trying to conceive naturally or those looking to increase the effectiveness of western medical interventions such as Clomid, IUI and IVF. Johanna is also our skin specialist treating difficult skin issues such as eczema, psoriasis & acne. She practices facial rejuvenation acupuncture and is certified in both the Mei Zen and Mary Elizabeth Wakefield styles of facial acupuncture. Johanna's approach to health is to provide a soothing, nurturing environment with gentle treatments that calm the body and mind, promote healing, and enhance well being and vitality.



 

Rachel Schultheis, LMT, CCN

Nutritionist & Massage Therapist

Rachel Schultheis is a Santa Barbara native and has been practicing massage for over 10 years. She attended the School of Intuitive Massage & Healing and is well-versed in both eastern and western modalities. Rachel is known for her gentle healing touch, leaving her clients in a deeply renewed state of well-being and peace. Rachel earned her certification in Clinical Nutrition at the Natural Healing Institute of Naturopathy, and is currently working towards her B.S. in Holistic Nutrition at Clayton College of Natural Health. She is passionate about exercise, good food, furniture restoration and spending time with her husband. She also writes regularly on her blog, 'The Undercover Nutritionist'.

Massage Therapist

Marla Van Stein has been practicing massage for 16 years. She has completed extensive training in a variety of massage styles, including swedish, deep tissue, reflexology and lymphatic drainage. Marla holds a specialty certification in prenatal and postnatal massage, and teaches infant massage to new mothers. Marla enjoys working with people of all ages to integrate and balance the body mind and spirit. Marla lives in Carpinteria with her husband and two children.
