Naturopathic Medicine

acupuncture
Naturopathic medicine is a comprehensive system of primary health care which combines western diagnosis and examination with natural, non-toxic therapies. It focuses on treating your body, mind and spirit to resolve both your symptoms and the underlying cause of illness. Naturopathic therapies are tailored to your needs and emphasize prevention and self-care.

Naturopathic Therapies Include:

Nutrition
Western Herbal Medicine
Lifestyle Counseling
Nutritional Supplements
Homeopathy
Hydrotherapy
Education in Preventive Medicine

Naturopathic care encompasses all aspects of family health from prenatal to geriatric care. Naturopathic Doctors (ND) cooperate with all other branches of medicine, referring patients to other practitioners for diagnosis or treatment when appropriate. Naturopathic medical services at Points of Health are provided by Dr. Lisa Stanich. To learn more about Dr. Stanich, click here.

Natural Gynecological Care

Dr. Stanich also provides comprehensive gynecological exams in a comfortable and compassionate environment. These appointments include:

Gynecological intake and history
Blood pressure screening
Clinical Breast Exam
Pelvic Exam
Pap Test
DNA Screening for the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV)
Other laboratory tests as needed, including blood tests and referrals for thermograms, mammograms and bone density studies
An opportunity to discuss the latest advances in contraception and natural hormone support

The Importance of a Pap Test

All sexually active women or all women over the age of 18 should get a Pap test once per year. A primary goal of the Pap test and other follow-up procedures is to prevent cervical cancer by identifying and treating abnormal cell growth that may lead to this type of cancer.  Having an annual Pap test has been shown to reduce the rates of cervical cancer.

"Until I received my exam from Dr. Stanich, the exams I received
lasted about 20 minutes and were very impersonal. Dr. Stanich takes a full hour with you. She is gentle, has a wonderful sense of humor and takes great care to create an environment that is welcoming, warm, and relaxing. I have recommended her to all of my women friends because I believe that every woman deserves time and patience during an exam of this nature as well as open dialogue and appreciation of her body." -JG
